Fortrust at CACPE 2026 Urumqi

CACPE 2026 took place at the Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center, Urumqi, September 3–5.

The Xinjiang Petroleum & Chemical Industry Expo (CACPE 2026) has just concluded at the Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center in Urumqi. Over three days (September 3–5), more than 400 exhibitors and tens of thousands of industry professionals gathered at one of northwest China's flagship energy events, focused on energy cost reduction, green transition and stable, intelligent production across the petrochemical value chain.

For oilfield operators, one set of problems never changes: well sites far beyond the utility grid, wildly fluctuating loads, expensive diesel logistics, associated gas going up the flare stack, and equipment that is hard to reach and harder to maintain. At CACPE 2026, Fortrust Power Control Technology (Qidong) Co., Ltd. presented three integrated solutions built specifically for these conditions.

The Four Power Problems Every Remote Oilfield Knows

Remote oil and gas operations face a stubborn set of power challenges. There is no utility grid to lean on, so diesel gensets carry the entire load — often running for hours at inefficient partial load or sitting in wasteful always-on standby. Load profiles swing sharply with drilling and pumping cycles. Valuable associated gas is flared instead of used. And when something fails, the nearest service technician may be hundreds of kilometers away. Each problem alone is manageable; together they drive up fuel bills, emissions and downtime at exactly the sites that can least afford them.

Three Solutions Fortrust Brought to CACPE 2026

1. AC Busbar Hybrid Power System: 15–30% Fuel Savings

Designed for remote well sites and field camps, the AC busbar hybrid system intelligently couples generator sets with battery storage. Depending on real-time conditions, the system runs storage-first supply with smart genset dispatch for top-up, or high-efficiency genset operation with storage providing dynamic capacity buffering and peak shaving. The result: gensets no longer idle at inefficient loads or run as always-on standby, cutting overall fuel consumption by 15–30% while extending equipment service life — stable supply, lower cost and lower carbon in one package.

2. Associated-Gas Power Plant O&M and Monitoring Solution

For oilfields losing money to flared associated gas and hard-to-manage remote power stations, this solution integrates three capabilities: associated-gas power generation that turns waste gas into electricity, an intelligent monitoring platform with real-time equipment status and energy data, and full-life-cycle O&M services. Remote alarms, fault tracing and unattended operation are standard, backed by end-to-end managed service that cuts on-site labor while keeping the plant safe, stable and efficient. Fortrust operates this model in the field — including an 18 MW associated-gas power project in a Xinjiang oilfield, where a 35 kV grid-connection system synchronizes multiple gas generator units.

3. Custom Containerized Power Stations for Harsh Environments

Purpose-built for outdoor oil and gas sites, Fortrust's special-purpose power station containers integrate any mix of supply equipment in a single enclosure engineered for wind-blown sand, corrosion, extreme temperatures, noise control, water ingress and seismic stress. Modular designs support rapid deployment and site-specific customization, so a complete station can be delivered, installed and commissioned fast — even in the most hostile desert and steppe conditions.

Diesel-Only, Hybrid or Associated-Gas? Choosing a Power Setup for Your Oilfield

The right architecture depends on your gas availability, load profile and site count — but the comparison below captures what we worked through with oilfield operators at the expo.

DimensionDiesel gensets onlyAC busbar hybrid (genset + storage)Associated-gas plant + cloud O&M
Fuel costHighest; diesel hauled to site, engines often at partial load15–30% lower; storage absorbs low-load and peak periodsLowest where gas is available; flared gas becomes free fuel
Emissions & wasteHigh fuel burn; associated gas still flaredReduced fuel burn and CO₂Flaring eliminated; waste gas becomes revenue
O&M burdenFrequent service visits to remote sitesFewer engine hours; remote monitoring cuts visitsUnattended operation with remote alarms and managed service
Best fitShort-term or emergency supplyWell sites, camps, drilling loads with strong load swingsMature oilfields with steady associated-gas flow

Whatever the setup, the control and monitoring layer decides whether it performs as designed. Fortrust's controllers, hybrid dispatch, monitoring platform and O&M services are engineered as one system — proven in the field from an 18 MW associated-gas project in Xinjiang to a 33 MW diesel plant in Malaysia and a 4 MW methanol-unit station in Daqing Oilfield.

What Oilfield Operators Asked Us in Urumqi

Over three days, oilfield companies and petrochemical industry peers visited the Fortrust booth for in-depth discussions. Conversations centered on practical needs: energy-saving retrofits for existing diesel fleets, low-carbon transition pathways, power station O&M outsourcing, and equipment integration for harsh outdoor sites. For each inquiry, our team worked one-on-one through site conditions and delivered tailored solution proposals grounded in operating reference projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much fuel can the hybrid system really save?

Measured against conventional diesel-only operation, the AC busbar hybrid system delivers 15–30% fuel savings, depending on your load profile. Sites with long low-load periods and sharp peaks see the largest gains, because storage carries the inefficient load bands and gensets run only in their efficient range.

Can the hybrid system retrofit my existing diesel gensets?

In most cases, yes. The storage container and dispatch controller are added alongside your existing gensets, and the control layer coordinates the combined system. Share your genset specifications and load data, and our engineers will confirm retrofit feasibility and projected savings.

What does it take to turn flared associated gas into power?

Three elements: gas conditioning matched to your gas quality, gas generator units with grid-connection control, and a monitoring and O&M layer. We deliver all three — as we did for an 18 MW associated-gas project in a Xinjiang oilfield — and can assess feasibility from your flare gas flow and composition data.

How does unattended O&M work for a remote power station?

Station controllers stream real-time status and energy data to our monitoring platform, with remote alarms and fault tracing. Our managed O&M service adds scheduled maintenance, spare parts and full-life-cycle support, so a small central team — or our engineers — can supervise multiple remote stations.

Can the containers handle desert sandstorms and extreme temperatures?

Yes. The special-purpose containers are engineered for wind-blown sand, corrosion, temperature extremes, noise reduction, water ingress and seismic loads, with modular designs for rapid deployment. Tell us your site environment and we will match the enclosure specification.

I missed the expo. How can I get a solution proposal?

Email info@fortrust.cn or call +86-21-6806 5446. Describe your site — load profile, fuel or gas availability, ambient conditions and number of sites — and our engineers will respond with a tailored configuration and reference cases.
