Fortrust Power Case Study | Application of Fortrust Power Generator Set Controller 8607 on Offshore Wind Power Platforms

As economically exploitable wind resources on land become increasingly scarce, global wind farm development is trending towards offshore expansion. Compared to onshore wind power, offshore wind power offers 20%–40% higher energy efficiency and boasts advantages such as no land occupation, higher wind speeds, less dust, larger power output, stable operation, and zero dust emissions. It also reduces turbine wear and extends the lifespan of wind turbine units, making it suitable for large-scale development.

Due to the unique characteristics of offshore wind power, backup generator sets are essential. Before wind turbines are connected to the grid, many offshore power needs rely on generator sets for support. For example, the initial installation, commissioning, and maintenance of wind turbines, as well as resistance to typhoons, all require reliable power supply from backup generator sets. Furthermore, generator sets require complex and reliable control systems.

Recently, the Fuchuang Power generator set controller was applied to an offshore wind power project, providing strong support for the stable operation of more than 500 wind turbines.
